We believe that every child has unique gifts, talents and abilities
. We have developed the Star program to focus on developing
these talents in each child. The program is unique in that it
focuses on identifying and developing each student's strengths,
areas in which they show natural aptitude and interest.
Traditionally, teaching often centers around those areas in which
students are deficient or need to improve. Alternatively, the STAR
Program focuses on the positive and allows students to build on
their innate strengths.
The STAR Program strives to develop each child's potential and
interests. We focus on who these students are as individuals and on
which areas they are especially strong. We then allow them to
develop these talents in a supportive environment.
Through Their
Eyes was a project directed by Paula Moore and Karen Katsir in
October 2005. Each child was given a camera and given the
freedom to take pictures without direction. The photographs
below were taken during an afternoon at Indian Springs Park in San
Mateo and while strolling through
downtown San Mateo. This exhibit allows you to experience the
world through the eyes of each child.
