Program Curriculum
Our Approach
At WINGS, we believe that every student with autism deserves a curriculum tailored to their unique learning style, strengths, and needs.
Our individualized approach supports students with autism by blending evidence-based instruction, real-world learning experiences, and therapeutic supports. This comprehensive strategy fosters growth in academics, communication, life skills, and social development for students with autism, ensuring they reach their full potential.

Therapies and Specialized Support
At WINGS, we provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary therapies designed to support the whole child and promote meaningful growth for students with autism. Our Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy (OT), and Music Therapy are seamlessly integrated into each student’s individualized program, fostering communication, motor development, sensory regulation, and emotional expression. What sets WINGS apart is our innovative, student-centered approach to autism support—where therapy is not just an isolated service, but a vital, embedded part of the learning experience for students with autism. This integration helps students with autism build real-world skills in a supportive and engaging environment, ensuring they thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Technology & AAC Integration
Our program embraces cutting-edge technology to create an engaging and accessible learning environment for students with autism. We utilize iPads, interactive whiteboards, and assistive technology to support individualized instruction and communication for students with autism. Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems—including speech-generating devices and symbol-based communication apps—empower pre-verbal and minimally verbal students with autism to express themselves, participate in learning, and build meaningful connections. By integrating adaptive technology and evidence-based communication tools, we ensure that every student with autism has a voice and the ability to engage with the world around them.

Individualized Curriculum and Instruction
Our classrooms are designed to support students with autism through the use of the Unique Learning System and News-2-You curriculum, offering a comprehensive and accessible approach tailored to a wide range of learning needs. These programs are especially effective for students with autism, as they integrate visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles to ensure instruction is both differentiated and individualized. In addition to core academics, we incorporate science lessons, art projects, cooking, music, yoga, movement, and other hands-on activities to create an engaging and dynamic learning environment that fosters growth, creativity, and independence.

Sensory Integration & Support
Our sensory gym is thoughtfully designed to support students with autism, featuring top-of-the-line equipment and sensory tools that promote regulation, motor planning, and self-regulation. Housed within our Occupational Therapy (OT) room, this dedicated space plays a key role in supporting the unique sensory needs often associated with autism. Sensory integration activities and personalized sensory diets are seamlessly woven into each student’s daily routine, helping build body awareness, coordination, and emotional regulation. Our approach emphasizes proprioceptive and vestibular input, using evidence-based strategies to foster focus, engagement, and overall well-being.

Music Therapy
At WINGS, music therapy plays a vital role in supporting students with autism by fostering connection, self-expression, and skill-building through both group and individual sessions. Our music therapist works closely with families to identify the instrument that best suits each child’s interests and needs—recognizing that music can be a powerful tool for engaging students with autism in a meaningful, joyful way. Using a play-based, multi-sensory approach, music therapy supports emotional regulation, communication, and overall learning in a fun, supportive environment tailored to each student.

Life, Functional, and Vocational Skills
At WINGS, we are committed to equipping students with autism with essential life skills that promote greater independence, self-determination, and community inclusion. Our curriculum goes beyond academics, incorporating functional skills such as personal hygiene and meal preparation, adaptive daily living skills like time and money management, and vocational training to prepare students for meaningful employment opportunities. What sets WINGS apart is our holistic, person-centered approach to supporting individuals with autism, integrating evidence-based practices, therapeutic supports, and real-world application. By fostering self-advocacy, confidence, and autonomy, we empower our students to thrive in all aspects of life.

Community Engagement & Social Recreation
We provide inclusive, community-based learning experiences for students with autism through structured field trips and therapeutic outings that promote real-world skill development, social-emotional growth, and independence. These experiences are especially valuable for students with autism, supporting sensory regulation, communication, and executive functioning in accessible and supportive environments. Outings are thoughtfully designed to incorporate therapeutic elements, such as water therapy for sensory integration, nature walks for emotional regulation, and hands-on activities that build daily living skills. By creating meaningful opportunities for community participation, we empower our students to build confidence, enhance safety awareness, and navigate the world with greater independence.

Art & Science: Engaging & Accessible
At WINGS, students with autism engage in hands-on, sensory-rich experiences through art and science that are tailored to diverse learning needs. Our art projects incorporate a variety of textures, colors, and materials, making creativity accessible and engaging for students with autism and beyond. Science lessons include interactive experiments that spark curiosity while supporting sensory exploration and critical thinking. Through both subjects, students learn, create, and discover in meaningful, inclusive ways.

Extended School Year (ESY)
To support students with autism and ensure continuous skill development, WINGS offers an engaging Extended School Year (ESY) program designed to provide year-round educational opportunities during summer breaks. Our ESY program is more than just academic reinforcement—it’s a fun and enriching experience that includes community outings to local favorites like the beach, Sausalito, zoos, hikes, parks, movies, and even lunch at restaurants. With a focus on social-emotional growth and individualized support, the program blends learning and fun in a camp-like atmosphere. For students with autism, this approach promotes independence, builds social skills, and supports overall development in a real-world, inclusive setting. The ESY program ensures that students with autism continue to thrive throughout the summer, enhancing their skills and confidence.

Staff Training & Safety
Our staff is continuously trained in proactive crisis prevention, behavior management, and individualized support techniques tailored to the unique needs of students with autism. Safety is always prioritized, ensuring all students feel secure and supported in their learning environment, including those with autism who may require additional behavioral support.
One Team, One Vision for Student Success
At WINGS, we provide individualized instruction within a supportive community, specifically designed to meet the unique needs of students with autism. Our team collaborates to address each student's academic, social, and behavioral goals through specialized therapies, structured learning, and tailored interventions, ensuring that students with autism receive the support they need to thrive.
Every achievement is a shared success, as we work together to ensure that all students, especially those with autism, are supported in their growth and development. By focusing on the needs of students with autism, we create an environment where each student can succeed and feel valued.
